Surah Yusuf

9th May 2024

The Surah Yusuf consists of 111 verses and belongs to the Makkan surahs, as it was revealed in Mecca before the migration. It is named Surah Yusuf because its main focus is the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph). This story is one of the unseen narratives revealed to Prophet Muhammad as a miracle, as he did not have prior knowledge of it. According to a narration by Al-Baihaqi in the book Ad-Dalail, a group of Jews embraced Islam after hearing the story of Prophet Yusuf because it aligned with the stories they knew. From the story of Prophet Yusuf, Prophet Muhammad derived many lessons and found solace in fulfilling his duties.
